Emergency Assistance

An 'emergency' refers to an actual or imminent occurrence of an event which in any way-

  • Endangers or threatens to endanger the safety or health of any person
  • Destroys/damages or threatens to destroy/damage any property
  • Endangers or threatens to endanger the environment or an element of the environment

Call 132 500 from anywhere in Victoria for a flood, storm, tsunami or earthquake emergency.

The phone operator will take down the details of the emergency and this information will then be paged through to the members of the nearest Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) unit. For incidents in the Bellarine response area our Unit’s designated member on duty (the duty officer) may then get in contact with the caller for further details and they will organise a response team where appropriate.

Current emergency information, warnings and advise is available by calling the VicEmergency Hotline on 1800 226 226 or by visiting the VicEmergency Current Emergency Information page.

For life-threatening emergencies call Triple Zero (000).
